was born December 30, 1956, in Lemmon, SD, to John and Wilma (Brockel) Seidel
, the youngest by 12 years of three children.Mike grew up in the Lemmon area and attended schools there, graduating from Lemmon High School in 1975.He then attended Northern State College in Aberdeen for a year before enlisting in the U.S. Army.Early on in his service career Mike was invited to Ranger training, an honor, and served the majority of his service time as a Ranger in Italy.After his time in the service, Mike attended Black Hills State College in Spearfish from 1980 until graduating with a business degree in 1983.He
met Jewel Giannonatti during college and the two were married in Spearfish Canyon on September 1, 1984.The couple lived in Sturgis for two years while Mike
was employed as a pharmaceutical rep. with Pfizer
.The family then moved to Rapid City
, where he
has been employed for the past 16 years as an orthopedic consultant with Synthes
.Mike worked in surgery in conjunction with the orthopedic physicians and was very dedicated to the patients.Mike was a member of South Canyon Lutheran Church and enjoyed fishing trips as well as camping with the Boy Scouts.He was a gracious host and liked to share new wines and foods with his friends.Mike
was especially proud of the good people his
children have become through their hard work and choices in life.Everyone who knew Mike

was a quiet person, but was also passionate, considerate and a cool dad.
