Mike Schaadt, vice president of PGAV Architects in Kansas City, said the opportunities to grow in the field of biosciences in the Venture Accelerator "is unbelievable."
"We're really excited to be working on this project," he said. "It will be one of the most innovative research facilities in the country right here in Olathe." It is designed with "green" features, and the architects and engineers are aiming for LEED Silver Certification, which is a measuring system to show whether a building meets environmental sustainability standards. "It's an architectural piece that is scaled to achieve quality design, but also functionality," Schaadt said. Although it will have laboratories, the building is designed to hide features associated with research facilities such as large exhaust fans, Schaadt said.
