Gospel Literature Services began in 1973 when Mike Riley, a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen, Ind., began a program to provide gospel literatureâ€"or the funds to produce that literatureâ€"to independent Baptist missionaries.
The resources are usually Regular Baptist Press products initially produced for the U.S. market.
Now missionaries are translating Sunday School and VBS curriculum into languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, Romanian Thai, Telugu, and Burmese.
In the 40 years since its founding, Gospel Literature Services
has provided millions of dollars of material to missionaries who are starting new Baptist churches around the world.
Mike Riley retired from GLS after thirteen years of ministry, followed by the leadership of Mark Jackson (1986â€"1994), David Crandall (1994â€"2006), and Chris Hindal (2006â€"present).
