Gospel Literature Services began in 1973 when Mike Riley, a member of First Baptist Church, Goshen, Ind., began a program to provide gospel literature-or the funds to produce that literature-to independent Baptist missionaries.
Mike Riley retired from GLS after thirteen years of ministry, followed by the leadership of Mark Jackson (1986-1994), David Crandall (1994-2006), and Chris Hindal (2006-present).
Mike Riley, a member of the church, heard missionaries' cry for Sunday School materials and began sending the used curriculum the church had accumulated. From that vision, Gospel Literature Services was born in 1973 and Mike Riley assumed the post of the first director on behalf of Regular Baptist Press.
