Mr Papageorgiou's current role is principal of a town planning consultancy, providing advice and guidance on urban planning strategies and the development of effective planning instruments. He was previously Executive Director, Planning Policy with Growth Management Queensland in the State Government planning department. His key responsibilities related to the development and implementation of urban and regional planning policy for Queensland, including green space and outdoor recreation strategies, the state planning instruments review program and climate change planning policy for land use and development. Mr Papageorgiou has also held the position of Divisional Manager, City Planning and Sustainability, with Brisbane City Council from 2008 until early 2010, and was Manager City Planning at the same Council since 2004. At Brisbane City Council he was responsible for city planning, development assessment, economic development, and natural resources policy. Prior to this, Mr Papageorgiou was with Gold Coast City Council for 8 years, as Manager Strategic and Environmental Planning. He is a current member of the Queensland Divisional Committee, Planning Institute Australia (PIA) and is Chair of the PIA Qld Education Subcommittee and was a member of the inaugural art+place Curatorial Panel from 2007-2010.
