Michael Notebaert A graduate of Ithaca College, Michael Notebaert concluded his ninth season as Head Baseball Coach at USMMA in 2017. He served as an assistant coach for the Mariners in his first two years at the Academy. He was also the assistant coach with Ithaca College's junior varsity squad for the 2003 season. In March 2014, in addition to his duties as Head Baseball Coach, Notebaert was named Assistant Athletic Director for Facilities and Events. In his eight years at the helm the Mariners, Notebaert has become the all-time winningest coach in the history of the program. He has guided Merchant Marine to three trips to the Landmark Conference Tournament, including a berth in the 2009 Championship Game. In the 2009 season, USMMA amassed a program record 22 wins and produced the program's first NCAA All-American. The Mariners also captured their first-ever Regular Season Conference Championship in 2013, finishing tied atop the Landmark Conference standings. Notebaert also coached the Academy's first conference Player of the Year in 2013 and earned the program's second trip to the ECAC playoffs in five years - the only two appearances USMMA has ever made in the bracket. He has coached a total of two NCAA Division III All-Americans, one Academic All-American, six All-New York Region and 20 All-Landmark Conference players in his eight years at Merchant Marine. Notebaert has twice been named the Landmark Conference Coach of the Year (2009 & 2013) and is a two-time recipient of the Academy's Bill Omeltchenko Coach of the Year Award (2009 & 2012). In every season under Notebaert, the USMMA baseball team has placed at least one athlete on the Landmark Conference All-Academic team. At the high school level, Notebaert was the assistant coach of the junior varsity baseball team at Geneva High School for three seasons from 2001-03 and then served as the assistant coach and hitting instructor for the varsity softball team from 2004-06. He helped guide the baseball team to the league championship all three seasons in his role as an assistant coach. During his tenure as a varsity softball coach, Notebaert helped lead the Geneva Panthers to a Class A No. 7 ranking in the state of New York in 2005. Notebaert completed his MBA in Leadership & Management at Dowling College. He now resides in East Meadow, N.Y., with his wife Veronica, son Andrew and daughter Natalie.
