Michael Lorge was elected to the Village Board in 2009. He was born in Chicago and has practiced law since 1978. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with honors from the University of Illinois and was designated as a James Scholar. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Cincinnati in 1973. Mr. Lorge currently is a partner in the Chicago Law Firm of Bronson & Kahn, LLC. Earlier in his career, Mr. Lorge served as a prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Mr. Lorge also has been published in magazine articles and authored a book released in 2006 by the University of Alabama Press. Active in numerous governmental committees and civic organizations, Mr. Lorge has served on Skokie's Cable Commission and Plan Commission, served as legal counsel to the Skokie Human Relations Commission and administered the Niles Township Government Legal Services for Seniors program. Before joining the Skokie Village Board, Mr. Lorge served as Niles Township Trustee from 2007-2009. He is past president of Temple Beth Israel in Skokie and serves on the national board of the Union for Reform Judaism and Olin-Sang-Ruby Union Institute. He is the founder and chair of the Greater Chicago Jewish Festival, the largest cultural event in the Chicago Jewish community. Mr. Lorge resides in Skokie with his wife Susie, a kindergarten teacher, and their four children Alyssa and Howard Dryver, Ilana, Ariel and Sari Ruth.

Michael M. Lorge is a member of the Chicago law firm of Bronson & Kahn, LLC. He was born in Chicago and has practiced law since 1978. His practice includes commercial law, litigation and transactional work. Earlier in his career, from 1979 until 1983, he served as a prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office. Michael is active in numerous governmental committees and civic organizations. Before being elected as a Village Trustee, he was the Vice Chair of the Village of Skokie Planning Commission, served on Skokie's Cable Commission and served as Legal Counsel to the Skokie Human Relations Commission. He also served as a Trustee of the Niles Township Government and coordinated the Niles Township Government Legal Services for Seniors program. As a long time member of the Skokie Caucus Party, he has served on its Board for many years, planned various Skokie Caucus Party events, including our 50th anniversary dinner and served as Vice Chair of the Party. In 1996, Michael was instrumental in settling the Niles Township High School strike in Skokie, Illinois. The Chicago Tribune acknowledged this work as "a triumph of grass roots organizing" which forced a settlement, and the Chicago Sun-Times referred to Michael as the "real hero" in the strike negotiation. Michael Lorge has produced many music, theater and recording projects in the Chicago area. He is the founder and chair of the Greater Chicago Jewish Festival, the largest cultural event in the Chicago Jewish community. Michael has served as President of Temple Beth Israel, Skokie and is a national board member of the Union for Reform Judaism. Michael Lorge is a 30 year resident of Skokie, Illinois with his wife Susie, a teacher.

Michael Lorge is active in numerous governmental committees and civic organizations. He is currently a Trustee of the Niles Township government. Michael has served free legal clinics and pro bono legal services for community groups, including swim teams, foundations and school groups. He has taught in academic institutions and he has presented at seminars. In addition, Michael has published in magazine articles and a book by the University of Alabama Press. With his wife, Susie, Michael founded and is chair of the Greater Chicago Jewish Festival, the largest cultural event in the Chicago Jewish community.

Shortly after the line closed, Skokie Corporation Counsel Michael Lorge said, the village met with the CTA, the water district and Walsh Construction, which was hired by the water district to perform tunneling work when the ground gave in.

"From the very beginning, we emphasized the impact this transportation has on our residents," Lorge said.
