Michael E. Lehman brings more than 35 years of senior-level financial management experience to his role as Palo Alto Networks' first CFO, where he oversees the company's finance, accounting, and manufacturing functions.
Mike joined Palo Alto Networks from Sun Microsystems, where he served two stints as chief financial officer, after joining the company in 1987, and was responsible for its finance, legal, real estate, public policy, corporate planning/strategy, and information resources functions. Before joining Sun, Mike was a senior manager in the San Francisco office of Price Waterhouse, the international accounting firm. He received a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Wisconsin in 1974. He is a member of the Finance MBA advisory board of the Graduate School of Business at the University of Wisconsin, Madison, a board member of the University of Wisconsin Foundation, and a director of MGIC Investment Corporation.

A private investor and current board member at MGIC, Solera Holdings, MapR and the University of Wisconsin Foundation, Lehman joins Talent Rover with extensive experience as a chief financial officer for high tech companies. Over the past few years, Lehman has directed the IPO readiness of two companies that are now publicly traded: Arista Networks and Palo Alto Networks. Prior to entering the startup world, Lehman achieved recognition at Sun Microsystems, where he served two stretches as CFO after joining the company in 1987.

He was Chief Financial Officer of Arista Networks, a cloud networking firm, from September 2012 through July 2013, and Chief Financial Officer of Palo Alto Networks, a network security firm, from April 2010 until February 2012. Prior to that, he was the Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Sun Microsystems, Inc., a provider of computer systems and professional support services, from February 2006 to January 2010, when Sun Microsystems, Inc. was acquired by Oracle Corporation. From July 2000 until his initial retirement in September 2002, he was Executive Vice President of Sun Microsystems, as well as its Chief Financial Officer from February 1994 to July 2002, and held senior executive positions with Sun Microsystems for more than five years before then. Mr. Lehman is also a director of MGIC Investment Corp. and also serves as the chairman of its audit committee.
