Speaker : Dr. Michael Knight, Senior Curator of Chinese Art, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco
will introduce 60 of the greatest treasures of Chinese art in the collection of the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco
Michael Knight serves as the Senior Curator of Chinese Art at the Asian Art Museum of San Francisco where he has been employed for 15 years.
Prior to coming to the Asian Art Museum, Dr. Knight spent 15 years at the Seattle Art Museum.
He also taught for four years at the University of Washington.
Michael received his PhD in Chinese Art History (1992), Master of Philosophy (1986) and Master of Arts (1981) from Columbia University and his Bachelor of Arts (1976) from Willamette University.
primary areas of expertise are early Chinese art, Chinese lacquer, and Chinese furniture.
has also published in the fields of Chinese painting and calligraphy and Chinese visual culture.
is currently co-curating an exhibition of Chinese calligraphy for 2012.
is also conducting research with the goal of a major publication of the collection of early Chinese art at the Asian Art Museum
