Michael Isen of the NAI Michaels Cos., a Lanham developer, suggested franchisees not shy away from franchises requiring a larger and more expensive surface area, as developers are looking to fill those spaces right now and could offer franchisees good deals.
Michaels is developing the Ritchie Station Marketplace along with other projects such as Landover Crossing
and the Vista Gardens Marketplace in Bowie.
"We can't say enough about our franchise business," Isen
said, referring to the Vista Gardens' Shoppers as the highest grossing store in the chain and a Planet Fitness that had drawn more than 6,000 members at Landover Crossing
reminded attendees that franchises carry less risk than starting one's own business because they are already branded and have a reputation.
