has subspecialty training in complex brain tumors and intracranial aneurysms.Dr. Harrison
residency at The Mount Sinai Medical Center
in New York City, where an average of 2 to 3 acoustic neuromas as well as 4 to 5 pituitary tumors underwent surgery each week.Following completion of his residency, he entered the military where he became chief of the division of Neurosurgery at Travis Air Force Base in California.After serving in the Air Force for 4 years, Dr. Harrison expanded his expertise and completed a fellowship in skull base surgery and cerebrovascular surgery at the University of Arkansas with two of the leading world authorities in these fields.
This fellowship emphasized the treatment of complex brain tumors in the cavernous sinus, suprasellar region, along the clivus, and within the posterior fossa.During this time he
also accumulated a significant experience with the treatment of giant and complex intracranial aneurysms that he
has brought with him to the Pacific Northwest.Dr. Harrison is the only neurological surgeon in the Portland metropolitan area who has completed such a fellowship.
