Mike Hale is Senior Advisor at Assuris, the not-for-profit organization that protects Canadian policyholders in the event that their life insurance company should become insolvent.
Mike worked for several years with Imperial Life becoming Vice-President-Corporate Planning and Actuary in 1982.
In 1987, he relocated to Hong Kong to lead the Laurentian Group's start-up operations in Asia.
In 1992, he
moved to the Toronto-Dominion Bank
to help focus their insurance business strategy and put in place their Life and Property/Casualty subsidiaries.
In 1995, he
moved to the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions
as Director General, Insurance with responsibility for supervision of Canadian registered Life and Property/Casualty companies.
He subsequently restructured and led the Office's actuarial group with special responsibilities for demutualization.
For many years he has been an active volunteer with the Canadian Institute of Actuaries and served as its President in 2008-2009.
Mike holds a B.Sc. from McGill University and an MBA from the University of Toronto.
