Michael L. Flannery was born on May 11, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ralph and Jean Flannery.
has a younger sister and brother.
grew up on the South side of Kansas City until the middle of his
junior year in high school when his
family moved to the North side of KC to Liberty, Missouri.
Michael met Darlene in the summer of 1966 while working as the head soda jerk behind a soda fountain in Liberty.
They were married on August 2, 1969.
The Lord blessed them with two children, Ryan Michael age 29 and Megan Kathleen age 25.
Ryan lives in Southern California where he works at Whole Foods.
He graduated from Cal State Fullerton in the spring of 2006.
Ryan plans to enter Graduate school this fall 2006.
Megan resides in North Carolina, where she is the Director of Christian Education at Resurrection Lutheran Church of Cary.
Darlene worked at USA Basketball
for the last eight years.
Three years ago she
own home business as an Herbal Life distributor.
intends to continue working from home.
Darlene has a great love for animals.
Two horses, three dogs and three cats journeyed across the country to live in Maryland.
The Flannery's live in Ellicott City, Maryland.
Michael has attended St. John's College, Winfield, Kansas; Concordia College, St. Paul, Minnesota; Concordia Senior College, Fort Wayne, Indiana; and Concordia Seminary, St. Louis, Missouri where he graduated in 1976.
In 1998 he
returned to the Seminary at St. Louis
and began study in the Doctrinal Ministry program.
has completed all the class work and is beginning his
Major Applied Project for his
Michael and Darlene served on vicarage at Hope Lutheran Church in Rochester, New York.
Michael’s first Call was to start a new mission in Oceanside, California.
They have also served at Grace Lutheran
, Versailles, Missouri St. John Lutheran, Libby, Montana; and First Lutheran, Temple City, California.
For the past nine years the Flannery's have lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado where Michael was Senior Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
He has had the privilege of being a mentoring pastor for the Pastoral Leadership Institute (PLI) for the past three years.
and Darlene enjoy just being together.
They also look forward to being involved in "team ministry" together.
In the past they have taught teen parenting courses, served on prayer task forces and worked on team together on Via De Cristo spiritual growth weekends as spiritual directors.

people at Our Savior
for many years.
