In the spring of 2004 we welcomed Pastor Michael L. Flannery as our senior pastor. Pastor Flannery began his tenure during the further expansion of our facilities and has helped Our Savior refocus its vision on discipleship, intentional outreach, and faith sharing.
Local Catholic Church Renovation Plan Presented, 12 Feb 2011 [cached]
Recently, I received this letter from Fr. Michael Flannery, pastor of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church in Whitehall and the Chapel of the Assumption in Huletts Landing. Fr. Flannery is proposing a renovation of Our Lady of Hope Church which will include painting the inside of the church, replacing the floor and re-finishing the pews. To undertake this work, he is proposing a special capital campaign.
On the afternoon of Sunday, June 27th, Fr. Flannery introduced interior designer, John Pierce, who presented his concept drawings of a renovated church to about 100 parishioners.
After Mr. Pierce presented his drawings and proposal, Fr. Flannery discussed the price tag.
"The total for the entire work would be $250,000, stated Fr. Flannery. "The painting of the walls and sanctuary is approximately $115,000, the tile floor is about $75,000, and the other things would make up the difference. The church will need to undertake a special capital campaign to raise the amount. The work would take about 4-6 weeks and the mass schedule would be moved downstairs to the parish center while work was being done."
Fr. Flannery took questions before adjourning the meeting. He stated that he welcomes opinions, support and encouragement as he plans to present the ideas generated to the entire church community in the weeks ahead. He can be reached at:

Michael L. Flannery was born on May 11, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri to Ralph and Jean Flannery.
Michael has a younger sister and brother. He grew up on the South side of Kansas City until the middle of his junior year in high school when his family moved to the North side of KC to Liberty, Missouri.
Michael met Darlene in the summer of 1966 while working as the head soda jerk behind a soda fountain in Liberty. They were married on August 2, 1969. The Lord blessed them with two children, Ryan Michael age 29 and Megan Kathleen age 25. Ryan lives in Southern California where he works at Whole Foods. He graduated from Cal State Fullerton in the spring of 2006. Ryan plans to enter Graduate school this fall 2006. Megan resides in North Carolina, where she is the Director of Christian Education at Resurrection Lutheran Church of Cary.
Darlene worked at USA Basketball for the last eight years. Three years ago she began her own home business as an Herbal Life distributor. She intends to continue working from home. Darlene has a great love for animals. Two horses, three dogs and three cats journeyed across the country to live in Maryland. The Flannery's live in Ellicott City, Maryland.

They have also served at Grace Lutheran, Versailles, Missouri St. John Lutheran, Libby, Montana; and First Lutheran, Temple City, California. For the past nine years the Flannery's have lived in Colorado Springs, Colorado where Michael was Senior Pastor at Holy Cross Lutheran Church. Michael and Darlene enjoy just being together. They also look forward to being involved in "team ministry" together.
