Michael Battiston will join ICE as Chief Business Development Officer
On April 21st 2014 Michael Battiston will join ICE as Chief Business Development Officer, replacing David Butterfield, who is leaving ICE for personal reasons. Michael has a Master of Arts from Queens College in New York, and worked for ASCAP in New York for most of his professional career. Amongst other things, he led much of the effort behind the development of ASCAP's back office and rights management systems. It is also worth mentioning Michael's involvement in IMJV in the late '90s and through his active involvement in CISAC, he has been part of creating e.g. the WID and CWR standards. Since 2006, Michael has been based in London working for ASCAP as Vice President, International Business Development, optimizing ASCAP's overseas revenue and maintaining relationships internationally. "I am confident that Michael is an excellent new "Ambassador" and Business Development lead for ICE. To avoid confusion, where it is appropriate Michael will step back from these positions ASAP. In addition to taking over the business development and customer acquisition activities, Michael will also lead the strategy development activities at ICE. Michael will be based in London.

Michael Battison, chair of music identifier ISWC and ASCAP's Vice President International Business Development, jumped in to point out that societies are already required by CISAC's Professional Rules to make unidentified works available to each other.
This led into the next major part of the talk: "The good news is that the identifiers are all there and what needs to happen is that we need to start linking them all," said Battison.
