...Professor Michael Gordon received the honor from the National Association of Economics Educators, the professional division of the National Council on Economic Education, at the group's annual meeting in Chicago.
Twelve other economic education experts from such institutions as the University of Maryland, University of Missouri, University of Kansas, Virginia Commonwealth University, and the University of Illinois-Chicago
serve with Gordon

has also had a recent string of other national honors recognizing his
expertise in economics education.He
was selected to address his
peers nationally at a conference session on state funding of K-12 education in their states.He
joined colleagues from Wisconsin, Kansas, California and Ohio in examining issues of quality, equity and cost-effectiveness.Gordon recently served as a session chair for the annual conference for members of the Allied Academies, an international educational organization.
The conference was held in Las Vegas.Gordon's session featured experts from around the world addressing banking, telecommunications, tax laws, and other economic issues.Gordon
is a previous recipient of the Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching, the New York State Council on Economic Education Award for Outstanding Service in Economic Education
, and the SUNY Canton Distinguished Faculty Award.Gordon also serves as an adjunct faculty member at Clarkson University.In addition to his teaching duties, Gordon serves as director of the SUNY Canton Center for Economic Education, an affiliate of Economics America.
For 12 years, the Center has been the primary source of in-service economic education in the North Country.

Finally, Prof. Gordon
led a session on the book Export Canada: Adjusting to Global Change and the Canada/US Border Project.Participants received books on these topics to assist with curriculum development in their schools.

SUNY Canton - Canton Center for Economic Education Renewed
Michael Gordon, professor of economics and a member of the SUNY Canton faculty since 1969, is the Director of the Canton Center for Economic Education.Mr. Gordon has run this center for the past 10 years, providing in-service staff development for social studies teachers in a four-county region and advocating statewide for the teaching of economics at the high school level.The National Council on Economic Education
oversees economic education centers throughout the U.S.Each must complete a stringent review process periodically, and affiliation is awarded for a period of years based on the quality of the center.The highest possible affiliation renewal is five years.SUNY
