With that, Mia, who in the past has helped with stage movement and choreography, made the leap from assistant to co-director.The results of her work will be seen Friday and Saturday, and again Aug. 5 and 6, when Youth CONNection performs "Seussical the Musical" at Shelton High School.The show starts at 8 p.m. each evening."I've assisted my parents before, but this is the first time directing," 23-year-old Mia said.She said she suggested "Seussical" as this year's Youth CONNection summer production because of the music."It's really incredible, really beautiful," she said."I think once the audience hears the musical, they won't be able to resist it."The story has a visceral effect as well, she said.The work is a cross-generational draw, Mia said."It appeals to children and adults.It kind of had a little bit of everything Youth CONNection looks for," she said.She and her dad directed a cast of 43, Like her father, Mia said she can be a strict taskmaster as a director."We're both pretty tough," she said.A 2000 Shelton High School graduate, Mia earned a bachelor's degree in theater from Muhlenberg College.She graduated from the Allentown, Pa., school in 2004.She is a member of Actors' Equity Association, the union representing American theatrical actors and stage managers, and is pursuing acting professionally.This summer she taught children's theater workshops at her parents' new theater-coffee shop-bookstore, Center Stage on Center Street, while auditioning in New York City.
