Meredyth Parrish, Ph.D.
Meredyth's Artist Statement Meredyth has lots of titles, but the one, Mixed Media Artist, only comes close to the art she creates. She loves photography, but never really leaves well enough alone. She takes the photo and inks it, sands it, and otherwise manipulates it until you're not sure it's a photo. She designs polymer clay covers for books and journals she creates from cardboard paper, paper, inks, paints, and ephemera. She dabbles in polymer clay jewelry. Altered art is another of her favorite pastimes. Meredyth is an experienced instructor and has designed and taught classes in Altered Art, Relic Journals, Cloth Journals, and Polymer Clay covers and light switch plates. She also teaches different Coptic Binding stitches for handmade journals and books. She designs greeting cards for weekly workshops at Stamp On It, a local art and stamp store. Meredyth and a colleague created and organized a national art convention called Creative Inspirations on 29th Street. Meredyth is teh co-editor of an international publication, Altered Words, showcasing altered art created by artists from all over the world. She is also serving her second term as President of the International Society of Altered Book Artists (ISABA).
