Whanganui District Health Board chief executive Memo Musa has resigned after seven years with the DHB.

Mr Musa says while he still has a lot to give, it is time to focus his energies elsewhere so the board can re-establish constructive working relationships with all its staff.
In a statement, he says he accepts a number of incidents at Wanganui Hospital over the past year have overshadowed many of the achievements of the board, and as chief executive they were his responsibility.
Health Minister David Cunliffe wants changes to continue at the DHB.He says it has faced a number of challenges and is focussing on implementing changes that will benefit patients.
However, he says the employment of Mr Musa is a matter for the DHB, and he will not say what he thinks of the chief executive's performance.

The Employment Court has struck out a claim for damages by former Whanganui District Health Board chief executive Memo Musa against outspoken board member and surgeon Clive Solomon.
