EAST HAMPTON - An investigation into a complaint by former Town Council Chairwoman Melissa H. Engel found flaws in an investigation of Engel by a senior police sergeant and concluded Police Chief Matthew A. Reimondo had failed to adequately supervise the investigation.
Despite that, Engel
has now signalled her
intent to sue the town and the two officers.

It is just the latest round in the long-running public feud between Engel
and Reimondo, a feud which only deepened after Reimondo was removed as chief and his position abolished in June 2010.
Engel was then serving as Town Council chairwoman and has acknowledged that she was participant in the discussions leading up to the chief's removal and abolition of his position.
Sarahina had been vocal in criticizing Engel
and supporting Reimondo's return,
Sarahina expressed concerns Engel
may have improperly handled applications for absentee ballots.
Specifically at issue was whether the ballot applications were solicited or not, and whether Engel
and another individual family members of four of the ballot recipients.
In April, 2012, Engel
filed a complaint against Reimondo and Kelly.
In addition to his criticism of the entire episode, Rosenblatt said Reimondo "was constrained by the settlement of his prior lawsuit (against Engel
and other councilors over his removal) from being actively involved in the [Engel] investigation. (Reimondo) did nothing deserving of criticism."
