According to Crown Center's Planning Director, Megan Zimmerman, several of the Center's residents are using the newest Centennial Greenway trail, from Shaw Park to Olive Boulevard, for daily trips to the nearby Schnuck's grocery store.
"This grocery store is really a lifeline for our residents, and Centennial trail has allowed them to access that lifeline more easily than ever before," said Zimmerman
Before the trail was built, residents could get to Schnuck's in one of two ways: through the Center's organized weekly bus trips, or by utilizing the sidewalk outside the Center, which, according to Zimmerman
, was rundown and unsafe.
"The trail is much more accessible now," Zimmerman
The trail helps to support the dignity of our community members and allows them to feel connected," said Zimmerman
"Once it's finished, our community will have the potential to go to new places along the trail, safely," said Zimmerman
