May 13, 2004, was a ?red letter? day for Maya Carroll, who graduated from Proctor High School in 1998. Maya graduated Magna Cum Laude from Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and a degree in Business Management.Also, at a separate ceremony, she was commissioned Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Sun Devil Battalion under the Branch of Military Intelligence.To top the day, Maya celebrated her 24th birthday. Maya?s sister Alexa, a 2003 Proctor graduate and a member of the Air National Guard in Duluth, was present to celebrate the events and had the privilege of giving Maya her ?First Salute? at the 2004 Joint Commissioning Ceremony. Maya also received an award for being on the Dean?s List for her four years in college, and was also named to the National Dean?s List, an award given to only .5 % of college students in the nation. Maya will remain in Arizona and be deployed to Fort Huachuca, Ariz., to advance her training in Military Intelligence.Her goal is to obtain a civilian position with the CIA or the Terrorism Task Force. Maya and Alexa are the daughters of Jim and Laurie Carroll of Duluth.
