Max I. Sparber , 85 , Sarasota , died Aug. 11 , 2001He was born Oct. 15 , 1915 , in Williamsport , Pa. , and came to Sarasota 20 years ago from Mount Carmel , Pa..He was a retail apparel merchant and a member of Lions Club and Elks Club.He was in the Army Corps of Engineers.He was a member of Temple Beth Sholom and former president of Tifereth Israel Synagogue in Mount Carmel.Survivors include his wife of 23 years , Dorothy W. ; a daughter , Sara Alexander of Fayetteville , N.Y. ; a son , Gordon of Winston Salem , N.C. ; two stepsons , Dr. Ira Wolfe of New Holland , Pa. , and David Wolfe of Monroe , Conn. ; a sister , Rose of Jamesville , N.Y. ; two grandchildren ; and four step-grandchildren.A memorial service was Sunday at Temple Beth Sholom.Burial will be in Mount Carmel.Toale Brothers Funeral home , Colonial Chapel , is in charge.
