was later stationed at Dow Field in Maine where he
met and married his
loving wife, Evangeline. Max was a life member of the Corinna Post #73 American Legion and a member of the Corinna United Methodist Church.He was an active member and much involved in the preservation and care of the North Newport Church. He
was a master furniture maker and many of his
projects are enjoyed by people in the area.In his
retirement years, he
took great pride in maintaining his

and wife Yvonne Matijczyk; daughter, Marie and husband Malcolm Hartsgrove; granddaughter, Katrina and husband Eric Domnissey; 2 grandsons, Matthew Matijczyk and special friend, Lisa Joakimides and Jason and wife Annette Matijczyk; step grandsons and families, Craig and wife Jennifer Hartsgrove and Scott and wife Kendra Hartsgrove, and Ryan; sister, Helen Matijczyk; and two "adopted" grandchildren Jackie and Timmy Sawtelle.Max
was predeceased by his
brothers, Albin, Adolph, Frank, and John; and sisters, Olga, Sophie, and Celia.
A memorial service will be announced by Crosby & Neal
, Newport.The family would like to say a special "thank-you" to those people who helped keep Max
home since his
stroke in 2005.
