Smith Maureen concentrates her practice in intellectual property law, specifically in trademark law. With more than seventeen years of experience in all aspects of trademark law, Maureen has helped countless clients select, protect, build and enforce brands in both the United States and around the world. She has managed portfolios that include some of the most valuable brands in the world and has overseen the development and enforcement of those brands in nearly every jurisdiction in the world. She has helped both large and small businesses select new brands and develop trade identities. She has practiced extensively in the United States Patent and Trademark Office including before its Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. She has filed and prosecuted hundreds of U.S. applications, including for various forms of trade dress and nontraditional marks, and has overseen the filing, prosecution and maintenance of tens of thousands of applications around the globe. Maureen’s extensive international experience provides her with a unique ability to help U.S. companies export brands and companies of other nationalities import their brands.
