Matthew John Siesel
On May 30, 1995, family, friends and classmates said "Until we meet again" to Matthew John Siesel, Class of 1988. At Uni High, Matt excelled in sports, especially football and baseball, earning varsity letters in both sports. As a student at Eastern New Mexico University, Matt continued playing baseball. His speed in center field and at the lead-off position earned him national recognition as he led the nation in stolen bases and triples. Matt, who received his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education posthumously from ENMU, had planned on pursuing a career in education. Not only was Matt a fine athlete and student, he was a generous young man who enjoyed family and friends, and showed others how to live life to the fullest. The student should exemplify those personal qualities of character that demonstrate the love of life and compassion for fellow students that were characteristic of Matt.
