PraiseFest, which will be held in Troy on Oct. 6 at Troy University, brings together denominations for a common goal, said Matthew Dunaway, founder and president of Praise- Fest Ministries, Inc., in Tuscaloosa."What we do is work with any area churches who want to get involved by training them and getting them to provide volunteers to help run the event when it actually happens," said Dunaway, who is also high school youth minister at Lord of the Harvest Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa.
"It's really community-oriented.It's great just seeing churches come together for a common cause to reach people."
Sharing the Gospel is first and foremost, said Dunaway
.That's achieved through guest speakers and popular musicians.
If negotiations are favorable, Dunaway
said the group Big Daddy Weave could also appear in concert.
"It's an opportunity for Christians to bring friends to the concert who they couldn't get to go to church," said Dunaway
."We want to share the Gospel message, but we don't believe in forcing it.This is an opportunity to share the Gospel and have people respond."
PraiseFest, which Dunaway
has coordinated the past two years, said local businesses benefit as well.
"If you will go to the Web site, you will see that we offer local businesses great advertising opportunities through what we do," said Dunaway
