The fire in the biomass stackyard was reported shortly before 11 p.m. Saturday, according to Matt Merritt, director of public relations for POET Biorefining.
Merritt said responders were able to contain the fire using water lines that were in the stackyard. No injuries were reported. Merritt said POET-DSM Advanced Biofuels, which oversees the Emmetsburg plant, is investigating the cause of the fire.
