Matt Lesan Named a Northern Sun All-Conference Performer The Northern Sun Conference has handed out their Men's Basketball All-Conference Awards and one Peacock has earned the honor. Matt Lesan (JR / Solon, Iowa) was named to the NSIC All-Conference second team. The all-conference team is made up of 20 young men from the 14-member NSIC; 10 on the first team and 10 on the second team. Lesan earned his All-NSIC honor after leading the Peacock offense to a near .500 season in conference action; the team completed the 2009-10 season with a 9-11 mark. Upper Iowa finished in a tie for ninth, but finished only one game out of a tie for sixth place. In 27 games this season, he averaged a team-high 11.4 points while shooting 42% from the field, 39% from three, and 81% at the charity stripe. Lesan also averaged 2.4 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game during his junior year. Junior guard Matt Lesan became the 21st Peacock in program history to break the 1,000 point barrier for a career in Wednesday night's 66-58 loss at Winona State. The Solon, Iowa-native needed just two points entering the night, but got seven, in the final road contest of the season. Lesan has started in all but two games in his outstanding three-year career as a Peacock and has a career scoring average of 12.4 points per game while shooting 43.7% from the floor for his career, 41% from beyond the three-point arc and 80.4% from the charity stripe. Upper Iowa dominated Minnesota Duluth earlier this season when the two squads met in Fayette. UIU expanded their 34-26 lead at the halftime break and won going away, 75-54, on Dec. 12. Lesan lead the Peacocks with 16 points, 11 of which came at the charity stripe.
