Savannah State University President Earl G. Yarbrough Sr. has named Mary C. Wyatt as Vice President for Academic Affairs.
, who brings more than 20 years of experience in increasingly responsible administrative positions in higher education, is scheduled to start November 20.

"Wyatt has held numerous and challenging leadership positions, which include successfully serving as a community college president, an assistant of planning to a university president, a dean, and a departmental chairperson," said Yarbrough.
, who describes herself as being "passionate about public higher education and historically black colleges and universities," brings a wealth of experience leading organizations, supervising personnel and developing and evaluating programs.
also has experience in designing institutional governance structures, assessing student outcomes, developing strategic plans, managing budgets, building community and governmental relations, and implementing technology.

During this time, Wyatt was professor and assistant to the president for planning, assessment and total quality management; director of sponsored research; and professor and dean for the
Wyatt earned a doctoral degree in food and nutrition from
A certified Family and Consumer Scientist since 1993, Wyatt is a 2000 graduate of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities' Millennium Leadership Institute in Washington, D.C ., and a 1997 graduate of Carnegie Mellon University's H. John Heinz III School of Public Policy and Management in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania .
