Mary Skaggs, member of the EARS board of directors, said the sanctuary would be able to house 2,500 animals. "It will be a sanctuary that will have a main building and then it will have pods where the animals will be kept," Skaggs said."There will be no cages."Skaggs said the sanctuary would house mostly dogs, cats and bunnies."It's a no-kill, care-for-life sanctuary. We don't believe in euthanization unless it is necessary. We want to save as many homeless animals as we can," she said.Skaggs said construction on the sanctuary could begin soon. She said they were just awaiting the permits from DeSoto County. "We are confident it will go through. We'll be ready to build," Skaggs said.
