Mary Polite, Ph.D.Assistant Head of School Mary Polite graduated with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, with a minor in music from Augustana College, Rock Island Illinois.While teaching elementary and middle school, she completed a master's degree in Educational Administration at Illinois State University.While serving as principal of elementary and middle schools, she completed a Ph.D. degree, also from Illinois State University, and then enjoyed a successful tenure in higher education.Mary was a full professor of Educational Administration at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where she also served as Associate Dean and Dean of the School of Education.Mary is the author of numerous publications and has presented workshops and consulted on various educational topics for teachers, parents and administrators.Regardless of her position, those with whom she worked knew well that her motto was "Always give your best for the kids".That remains her motto today as she acclimates to her new home on Hilton Head Island and new family at Heritage Academy.
