It is with the deepest sadness that we report the passing of Mary Johnston
, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.She
passed away peacefully on May 20, 2003 at St. Boniface General Hospital
, from heart surgery complications, with her
three children at her
was predeceased by her parents Robert and Elizabeth McIsaac, her husband George and her grandson Michael Johnston.
Born in Clyde Bank, Scotland on August 26, 1916, Mary
immigrated to Canada as a young girl with her parents to Winnipeg, MB.
...In later years Mary worked at Sutcliffe Insurance Agencies, in Kenora up to her retirement.
Up to her
lived a very active life, taking part and helping family and friends whenever called upon.She was an active member of Knox United Church and (Unit 10 of U.C.W) and enjoyed her contributions to rummage sales and seniors luncheons.In past years she was a member of the Lake of the Woods Hospital Board and Unemployment Commission.She
monthly luncheons with her
Sal Gals, her
evenings with her Bridge Club
or just relaxing watching baseball and curling both of which she
played in earlier years.Mary
loved to work in her
gardens, to knit, sew and crochet and was always baking for family and others.She
will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends alike.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre
, with services on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Knox United Church
at 2:00 p.m.
