"We are excited to be hosting the Freedom Calls Event at our hospital, and hope some local families will be able to connect with their loved one during this event," said Mary R. Begley, director of marketing and organizational planning at Ephraim McDowell Health.
"Individuals may remember the first Freedom Calls Event, which was provided to families during the University of Kentucky and University of Louisville basketball game in December," Begley said."We think it's wonderful that these events are being repeated and expanded to local facilities that are members of the Kentucky TeleHealth Network."
Begley explained that the Kentucky TeleHealth Network is a statewide telemedicine program that has a network of more than 70 videoconference systems in healthcare facilities across the state.
"Because of our member status in the Kentucky TeleHealth Network, we are able to enhance the training of our Associates," Begley said."Now, because of this relationship, we have the opportunity to provide this Freedom Calls Event to our community."

FRANKFORT - Mary Reinle ..., 12 Feb 2010 [cached]
FRANKFORT - Mary Reinle Begley, ombudsman of the Cabinet for Health and Family Services, has been named the cabinet's inspector general.
In January 2009, Begley joined the cabinet from Ephraim McDowell Health, where she served as vice president of customer and physician relations since 2006.
A registered nurse, Begley joined McDowell as a staff nurse in 1976 and held various positions with the organization, including director of marketing and community relations, education coordinator, and director of critical care.
"Mary Begley's broad experience as a health care professional and her knowledge of facility operations will serve the cabinet well in her new role," said cabinet Secretary Janie Miller.
"The responsibility this office has of providing quality regulatory services for the licensing of health care facilities, day care, long-term care and child caring agencies in the commonwealth is of vital importance," Begley said.

McDowell spokeswoman Mary Begley said today that the elimination of Michael's position was not a reflection on how he did the job.
"This was not a performance issue, it was to streamline our administrative operations," Begley said."It's just a trend throughout the country in health care to be as efficient as possible and this is just following that trend.Merging the board is also part of that trend."
The new Ephraim McDowell Health Board of Directors is a combination of the two now-defunct boards, with several additions and one subtraction.
Longtime hospital board member Evelyn Guerrant is voluntarily stepping down, Begley said.
Michael will leave his job as of Friday, with Taylor planning to move his office from Chase Bank to the second-floor administrative area of the medical center soon after, Begley said.
Begley said the elimination of Michael's position is part of McDowell's strategic planning that has been under way since the fall.Along with expanding the medical center, the company is concentrating on specialties like the heart program, woman's health and in-patient care, while doing away with some programs, such as out-patient mental health services.
