MARTIN SCHWALM - CEO
Martin has held a number of executive management positions at both publicly and privately held companies, and has over 15 years experience in operations and business development in the life science laboratory and custom automation marketplace, with a scientific background in thermodynamics, heat transfer, and fluid mechanics.
In 1998 he cofounded Hatch Technology. Martin's vision and leadership developed that concern from a 5 person consulting company to a 40+ person, $6MM regional leader in custom automation, developing products for the Aerospace, Food, Consumer Products, Automotive, Life Science, Pharmaceutical industries. The Hatch Science business division was created in 2006 to enable the company to grow through a product-based strategy aimed at the Pharmaceutical Industry that transitioned away from custom equipment development. Through this division he established a strong working collaboration with Bristol-Myers Squibb and Merck as industry development partners and early adopters of the Hatch products.
In 2010, as the last phase of transition from the custom automation marketplace, Martin formed Two Square Science LLC a as a unified corporate brand entity to develop and sell Two Square's current and future product lines with national and international growth potential.
Martin is a business leader trained as a Mechanical Engineer with interests and experience in Automation, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Software Development and System Controls. He holds a BSME from the University of Massachusetts, a ScM from Brown University, and has met the academic requirements for a PhD from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Martin holds patents in Pharmaceutical Product Development on products he has developed in both the Life Science and Pharmaceutical fields.

Hatch Technology Group, Inc introduces Martin Schwalm, President.Martin Schwalm, a mechanical engineer specializing in Robotic Automation, Process Development, Control Systems Engineering was named President of Hatch Technology Group, Inc.A founding member of Hatch Technology Group, Inc in 1998, Mr. Schwalm was Vice President until September 2000, when he was named President, replacing David Bernier, who has taken over as Vice President of Engineering for start-up Power Span of New Hampshire.
Mr. Schwalm graduated from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.At the University he received the Mechanical Engineering Award for being the #1 student in his graduating class of Mechanical Engineers.He also received the Thermodynamics Prize and the Materials Scholarship Award.Mr. Schwalm attended Brown University where he graduated with ScM, thesis option, in Engineering specializing in Fluid Dynamics and Thermodynamics.He was a Fellowship recipient as well as a research assistant while at Brown.Mr. Schwalm has completed his PHD coursework at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute where he researched Superheated/Supersonic Droplet Deformation Research for Avionic Fuel Injection Systems.
Mr. Schwalm has over 15 years experience developing machinery, process, and experimental equipment for more than 30 major New England Manufacturers.Mr. Schwalm's interest in engineering/design began during high school when he started building machinery for Barcolene, IPAK, and Econocorp.Mr. Schwalm has previously been employed by the Acushnet Rubber Co. where he was a manufacturing engineer.After being employed with Acushnet Rubber Co., Mr. Schwalm was employed with Molten Metal Technology where he was a Senior Technical Associate as a member of the R&D team developing equipment and conducting experiments related to high temperature molten metal catalytic extraction process.Most recently, before being employed by Hatch, Mr. Schwalm worked for Automatech where he provided technical support and application engineering for industrial control system software.
In 1998 Hatch Technology Group, Inc. was formed by a group of Chemical, Mechanical, and Electrical Engineers.The original focus of Hatch Technology was consulting in the area of Process Development.During its process development programs, Hatch Technology found success and focus in Robotic Automation.Hatch Technology's attention to customer service has resulted in being the preferred robotic systems provider for small and large companies throughout the Northeast.Currently, Hatch Technology is releasing ROBOCENTERTM, a robotic work cell product line, to its customer base.
