Keynote 2 - Martin Dougiamas

Learning Management Systems Archives | Nine Lanterns

ninelanterns.com.au [cached]

It was an interesting position to be in as the speaker following Martin Dougiamas, the founder of Moodle, at the 2014 Health MoodleMoot. Although it was an honour to be in the line up of presenters, it was a slightly daunting prospect. This was eclipsed however by the excitement of being able to present to a community of other people, who like me, are interested in what happens when technology, health and education intersect. In fact the Instructional Design team at Nine Lanterns has spent the last five or so years working at this juncture and it was exciting to be able to share our knowledge, and our APLS (Advanced Paediatric Life Support) project with others who are also passionate about what can happen in this space.

The conference theme was 'Moodle and Innovation in Healthcare Education with the aim of conference being to showcase successful implementations of Moodle, and related technologies and approaches. As I mentioned earlier Martin Dougiamas, the founder of Moodle, was the first keynote speaker. I particularly enjoyed his focus on 'feedback'.
...
I was particularly happy when Martin leaned across the conference seats, to let me know that my nerves didn't show at all!
