Marty Demgen's activist roots in politics began in the late 1960s when he raised money for Biafran hunger relief and joined one of the many efforts to end the Vietnam War. He co-founded the Notre Dame Hunger Coalition while earning his degree at the university.
In the 1980s, Marty assisted the Local P-9 workers in Austin and since that time has supported a host of labor groups and struggles.
A long-time Local Union President, Marty's worked for the past eight years as a Union Representative for the Minnesota Newspaper Guild-Typographical Union (CWA).
Marty has been an administrator in the non-profit sector; past board member of the Minnesota Alliance for Progressive Action (now TakeAction Minnesota).
Marty's coached Special Olympics; numerous sports in recreation leagues and supports high school athletics as a parent and officer of the South High Booster Association.
