"They've been in that space forever," said Martha Smith, CEO of Kapiolani Medical Center for Women and Children.
"Their new therapy rooms will be much larger and accommodate not only the child but the caregiver as well.
Right now they're in very small therapy rooms.
They tend to do the workouts in the hallway, when they have runs for the kids to do.
Now there'll be a new gym for that."
The new facility will provide both inpatient and outpatient services, Smith
Children will have a new therapy gym area, a multi-specialty room for children who use assistive devices to communicate or move, a new hearing aid evaluation and fitting room for infants and children, and two speech therapy rooms.
It will also include an exercise room for older children recovering from orthopedic surgery or sports injuries as well as children involved with weight management programs.
"If you can imagine, physical therapy and occupational therapy comes with a lot of equipment, and soon there will be proper storage for that equipment, so we're excited about that as well," Smith
"Staff right now are sharing desks.
