Our goal has always been to provide a new winter coat that keeps the child warm, enables them to attend school regularly, and boosts their self-esteem," said Martha Grieco, spokesperson for Riddle Hospital.
"Thanks to the generosity of Franklin Mint Federal Credit Union employees and other generous donors, this year we were able to provide 42 children from Stetser Elementary in Chester and Main Street Elementary in Upland with their NEW Winter Coats at our annual party," said Martha Grieco, Riddle Memorial Hospital's Community Outreach Liaison.
Martha Grieco, Riddle Memorial Hospital's community outreach liaison and HCI's project coordinator, agrees with that concept."We started the (HCI) in March of 2000," Grieco said."Our mission statement is to engage the Rose Tree Media community in building a network of individual and organizational support so that our youth develop into healthy, caring and responsible individuals."To aid that cause, HCI enlisted the help of the Search Institute, a nonprofit organization based in Minneapolis, Minn. According to research compiled from more than 1 million young people, the Search Institute has identified 40 concrete, positive experiences and qualities, which it terms developmental assets. The Search Institute believes that these assets have an influence on young people and that if these assets are stressed they will "help young people make wise decisions, choose positive paths and grow up competent, caring, and responsible."
