(Goffstown, NH) Portsmouth state senator Martha Fuller Clark today joined women experienced in politics from across the state for a panel discussion about the challenges that women face on the campaign trail. The discussion, part of St. Anselm College National Education for Women (NEW) Leadership New England annual five-day residential program for undergraduate women at the New Hampshire Institute of Politics.
"It was wonderful to see so many young women focused on careers in politics," Clark said.

"If only half the women who attending this conference go into politics, I have no fears for the future of our county," Clark added.

About Martha: Martha served terms in both the New Hampshire House and Senate since the '90s. A two-time candidate for the U.S. Congress, she currently serves as Vice-Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party, a member of DNC and, in 2008 and again in 2012 served as co-chair of the New Hampshire Committee to elect Barack Obama President of the United States. Senator Martha Fuller Clark is serving her fifth term after being elected in the fall of 2012. She previously served from 2005-2010 and currently represents District 21 which covers several Seacoast communities including Durham, Lee, Madbury, Newfields, Newington, and Newmarket, as well as her hometown of Portsmouth.
Her committee assignments for 2014-2015 include Energy & Natural Resources, Health & Human Services, and Rules, Enrolled Bills & Internal Affairs.
During previous terms in the Senate, she served as President Pro-Tem, and served as Chair of the Energy, Environment and Economic Development Committee, Vice Chair of Executive Departments and Administration Committee, and as a member of Education, Transportation and Interstate Commerce Committees. Before being elected to the Senate, Martha spent twelve years in the New Hampshire House of Representatives.
The senator is currently Vice Chair of the New Hampshire Democratic Party and a member of Democratic National Committee, serving on the Resolutions Committee. In 2008, she was co-chair of the New Hampshire Committee to Elect Barack Obama President of the United States.
