Martha Balshem, Associate Director, was appointed in 2002, coming to WASC from Portland State University, where she served on the faculty for 13 years.She participated in design and implementation of University Studies, Portland State's innovative general education program As Coordinator of Freshman Inquiry, she was responsible for assessment, faculty development, and program oversight.Previously, she was an investigator at Fox Chase Cancer Center.A graduate of Temple University, Balshem earned her Ph.D. in Anthropology from Indiana University.She provides support to a broad array of institutions preparing for eligibility, candidacy, and initial accreditation reviews each year, and works on various projects.
