Math teacher Marsha Brumberg and language arts teacher Jerry Cullen have been teaming up for about 10 years to give a humorous presentation on "HSPA Prep Day."
"Apparently it has an impact, because attendance is much better during testing days," Brumberg
Jerry has the humor, but language arts lends itself more to that," Brumberg
My favorite one is, "I don't care if you fail -- it's not me,' " Brumberg
The pair update their routine annually.
Time is now spent on a major taboo -- cell phones.
"If you use a cell phone during the test, you're done.
We also tell students not to put their heads down to rest between test sections, because they may never get back up," Brumberg

Like most districts, Washington Township
does more serious things to prepare, too.
Practice tests are given in math and language arts classes all during the week before the HSPA.
