Mark Timmer
Pastor Mark grew up on a small farm in western Michigan. He attended Zeeland Christian Schools and Holland Christian High School. He received a B.A. in Greek from Calvin College and a Masters in Divinity from Calvin Theological Seminary (located in Grand Rapids, Michigan). During seminary he served churches in Michigan, Alaska, Florida and Nova Scotia. Mark and his wife, Bonnie, and their three children reside in Tinley Park. Pastor Mark stays active with walking, biking, and various sports (often with his kids), and finding ways to avoid camping. (He is thinking about starting a support group for non-campers). He also likes to read and do projects around the house.

Pastor Appreciation: As we enter October, pastor appreciation month, the council of Faith Church would like to publicly express our deep appreciation to Pastor Mark for his work in leading our church family.
We thank him for his commitment to serve his Lord and Savior so selflessly and give thanks to God for sending him to us. Recognizing that words of appreciation and intercessory prayer are such a blessing, we ask the congregation to join us in expressing thanks and in regular prayer that God will bless Pastor Mark and his family as together we worship and serve our Lord. The Faith Church Elders met on Sept. 4 and 1) were led in opening devotions on Ezekiel 11 by Pastor Mark; 2) approved Aug. minutes; 3) reviewed several chapters in The Elder's Handbook; 4) delegated Pastor Mark and Elder Alice W (alternate Bernie S) to the meeting of Classis Chicago South at Trinity on Sept. 19; 5) continued a discussion on the option of baptized children participating in the Lord's Supper, focusing on questions that need to be answered; 6) discussed nomination procedures; 7) received Pastor Mark's written report; 8) noted prayer needs within a district and shared other matters for prayer; and 9) adjourned to Oct. 2 after prayer and the Doxology. The Faith Church Elders met on Sept. 6 and 1) opened with devotions on Acts 20:17-32 and, after sharing requests, prayed for each other; 2) approved Aug. minutes; 3) discussed a section of The Elder's Handbook to reflect upon our work as elders; 4) received the membership transfer of Karen V from Wheaton CR Church, and approved the transfer requests of Jim K to Calvary Reformed, Orland Pk., and Andy S (Jr.) to Crete Reformed; 5) received Pastor Mark's written report; 6) reported on visits and contacts; 7) recommended a revision of the elder portion of the Faith Handbook for council approval; 8) decided to celebrate communion on Sunday, Jan. 1, and not to hold a New Year's Eve service this year; 9) adjourned to Oct. 4 after a closing prayer by Gary T and the singing of the Doxology.
