Dr. Mark A. Kallgren
Mark A. Kallgren received his M.D. degree from the University of Arizona College of Medicine in 1989, after completing his undergraduate studies at St. Mary's University in San Antonio.
then completed a residency in anesthesiology at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center
in San Antonio from 1990 to 1993.
This included a fellowship in pain management.
postgraduate training, he
served on the teaching faculty of the University of Arizona Anesthesiology Department; in 1995, he
was given an award for Outstanding Faculty of the Year.
Dr. Kallgren was co-director of the Interventional Pain Medicine Clinic at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland from 1998 until 2007.
He is currently the Medical Director of Pain Medicine, Oregon Anesthesiology Group in Portland.
has participated on a number of medical committees, including: American Society of Anesthesiology Pain Medicine, Oregon Anesthesiology Group
Pain Medicine, Physicians for Compassionate Care and Oregon Cancer Pain Initiative.
numerous publications appear in peer-reviewed journals such as Anesthesia and Analgesia; Survey of Anesthesia.
Additionally, Dr. Kallgren
has authored chapters on pain management in several authoritative textbooks in current use.
Dr. Kallgren is widely sought after as an expert speaker and lecturer on his subject, giving numerous presentations on pain management in Oregon and many other states.
