The SEC filed a civil suit in U.S. District Court for Utah against Copper King President and CEO Mark D. Dotson, 52, of Milford, Alexander Lindale, LLC,, and its General Manager Wilford R. Blum, 58, and disbarred attorney Stephen G. Bennett, 52, of Merrimack, N.H.
In Dec. 2007, Dotson, the President and CEO of Western Utah Copper Company, attempted to find financing to purchase mining equipment, the complaint states.
The SEC complaint alleges Dotson
authored and distributed false and misleading information on Copper King's
website regarding the company's ability to produce revenue, its ability to extract significant amounts of copper and other metals, its receipt of an irrevocable purchase order for its copper, and its receipt of a firm funding commitment for $100 million to pay for operations and building an ore processing mill.
The SEC complaint further alleges that Dotson
knowingly allowed Alexander Lindale and Blum
to issue additional false press releases and conduct an unregistered offer and distribution of Copper King stock.
