Mark Bittle is the Market Development Manager for CenturyLink of Southeastern Colorado. Prior to joining CenturyLink in May of 2011 Bittle founded Progressive Impact, a company that specialized in developing people and the organizations in which they work. His experience in developing teams and the strategies to accomplish mutual goals has been recognized nationally; along with his remarkable accomplishments in twenty-one unrelated industries.
Bittle brings his entrepreneurial passion to his job as the Market Development Manager for CenturyLink, the third largest telecommunications company in the United States. He serves as the company spokesperson, media relations, community relations, and strategist for Southern and Western Colorado.
Bittle also volunteers his expertise with the following organizations: Colorado Springs Small Business Development Center, Colorado Springs Regional Business Alliance, serves on the board for the Pikes Peak Therapeutic Riding Center, and Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Southern Colorado and the Southern Colorado Women's Chamber of Commerce. His passion for working with others while offering his experience and dedication to help others grow has been noticed by those who surround him.
Bittle, an Iowa native, moved to Colorado Springs in September of 2008 after founding several financial firms, which led him to become the president of the Iowa Association of Mortgage Brokers in 2006-07. During his 18-month tenure he led the effort in quadrupling the membership. He was named to the Colorado Springs Business Journal's 2011 40 under 40 Rising Stars, the Iowa Mortgage Broker of the year in 2007, and nominated to be the 2006 Iowa Man of the Year.
Bittle graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in communications, with certifications in leadership and conflict management from Denver's Regis University. He is an avid soccer player.

It's like going straight to the warehouse instead of the retail store," explains Mark Bittle, president of the Iowa Association of Mortgage Brokers and owner of Mortgage Innovations LLC in West Des Moines. A mortgage broker receives compensation for the loans that he or she originates, just as any other business entity would. The Federal Trade Commission regulates brokers on the federal level.
Local mortgage brokers are regulated for compliance by the Finance Bureau of the Iowa Division of Banking, which has the authority to do regular examinations of mortgage brokers. Bittle says that every mortgage broker must have a license number on record with the Iowa Division of Banking and must adhere to the same state and federal regulations as any other mortgage lending institution. "The mortgage industry is one of the more regulated industries in the marketplace today. Regardless of whether they're a bank, credit union, mortgage broker, or other financial institution, if they write mortgage loans they must follow RESPA, TILA, and the fair lending laws," he says. Mortgage brokers can also offer additional services such as home equity loans, lines of credit, and commercial financing.
As of July 1, 2006, all mortgage brokers have been required by law to undergo national criminal background checks by the FBI and to be registered with the Iowa Division of Banking, a change from past procedures.
Bittle says the Iowa Association of Mortgage Brokers works to ensure that today's homebuyers receive the best service available. "We want to educate the brokers of the community and make sure that we are doing well for the consumer," he says.
