Mark Battey is Managing Director of Miramar Environmental, Inc and co-owner of Miramar Farms.
Over the past decade, Mark
has been a leader in the affordable housing sector and a change-maker in state and local government.
He was the founding Executive Director for New California Network (now California Forward), a non-profit dedicated to improving California's fiscal foundation.
Prior to that, Mark was Chief Deputy Controller for the State of California where he managed the 2003 $11 billion Revenue Anticipation Warrant bond sale, supervised the policy team for the Controller, and served on a variety of state finance boards, including CalPERS and CalSTRS.
Mark was Managing Director and Chief Financial Officer for Essex Environmental, Inc., an award-winning environmental consulting company that he co-founded in 1988.
Mark held previous positions in marketing and finance in a career that began with Addison-Wesley, an international publishing firm.
Mark has an MBA from Stanford University, an MSC in International Relations from the London School of Economics, and a BA from Harvard University.
He is currently pursuing a PhD at the International School of Management in Paris, New York, and Shanghai.
Mark is Chair of the board of directors for MidPen Housing, Inc., a non-profit housing developer with a portfolio of over 7,000 affordable units across Northern California.
He has also supported the work of numerous community organizations on the San Mateo coast, including serving as Chair of the capital committee for the Coastside Adult Community Center and as Chair for the Cabrillo Unified School District's Capital Asset Committee.
