Mark Basil is security awareness and surveillance detection director of Global Journalist Security.Mark has nearly 20 years experience as a security professional acquiring extensive knowledge of both U.S. government and private sector practices.
He served for 10 years in the United States Secret Service, including in the anti-terrorism mission where he coordinated covert protection for world leaders and was active in National Special Security Events.
He initiated many projects for a unique, tactical program element.
Mark performed security surveys and vulnerability assessments for Secret Service protectees and was selected as the liaison for his unit with Air Force Office of Special Investigations and the United States Coast Guard in conjunction with joint protective operations.
Mark is an industry CPP Certified Protection Professional.
His areas of expertise include: Surveillance Detection and Counter-Surveillance; Threat Analysis, Security Audits and Vulnerability Assessments; and Strategic Program Development, Personal Protection, and Security Management.
