Brooks sells condo
Speaking of local news anchors in the real estate market, WMAQ-Ch. 5's Marion Brooks has just sold her seven-room West Loop condo for $450,000. As Elite Street exclusively reported Sept. 3, the recently divorced Brooks, 44, had listed the 30th-floor condo because of a desire to live closer to her NBC Tower office in Streeterville. At that time, the three-bedroom condo in the SkyBridge high-rise was available for $429,000. It previously had been listed in 2007 for $780,000, for $775,000 in 2008 and for $700,000, $675,000 and $650,000 in 2009 before Brooks pulled it off the market in January 2010. She had paid $782,000 for the unit in 2005. Features in the home include 2 1/2 baths, an open floor plan, a fireplace, floor-to-ceiling windows, two balconies and parking for two cars. Brooks closed on the sale Monday.

ATLANTA , Even Marion Brooks didn't see this coming. For four years, Brooks hid her glitzy affair full of exotic trips with Atlanta then-Mayor Bill Campbell, she testified last week during his federal corruption trial. What Brooks, 39, didn't know is that she wasn't the married mayor's only girlfriend.Brooks said the affair continued when she left Atlanta in December 1997 to take an anchor position at WMAQ in Chicago. The couple broke off the romance in 1999, but it was briefly rekindled in 2001, she said.It ended with a trip to San Francisco, she said, where the mayor bought her a $2,400 coat.Brooks apparently didn't realize that Campbell had another long-term girlfriend, Jimenez.Kevin Hanna, who was selected by Campbell in 1997 to run the Atlanta Development Authority, testified that the city's chief operating officer, Larry Wallace, recommended Brooks for a public relations position.According to previous testimony by businessman Gabe Pascarella, who would book trips for the mayor, Campbell took several romantic trips with women, in particular Brooks or Jimenez.Prosecutors didn't dwell on any steamy details of Campbell's affair with Brooks, which included trips to Paris, Mexico, Las Vegas and Jamaica.Instead, they are trying to back up their contention that the mayor needed cash to support a lavish lifestyle of jet setting, high-stakes gambling and women.Brooks testified that Campbell paid for hotels, dinners and entertainment using cash , never credit cards or checks.Even when she asked for a loan for a down payment on a condominium, he handed her $16,000 in cash, she told the jurors.
