Mario Rubio, owner of Rubio Real Estate in Annandale, was installed as the 2014 Chairman of the Board. Rubio has also been appointed as the 2014 NAR President's Liaison to Peru, an honor granted to only one NAR member each year. Rubio was born in Peru, arriving in Northern Virginia when he was 16 years old.
Next year, NVAR will provide outreach and member education to help Realtors® protect the public from unethical business practices, Rubio said in his acceptance speech. He stated that he will continue the "vision of bringing our diverse Realtor® membership together."
Reflecting on the positive influence that 2007 NVAR Chairman Luis Lama provided, Rubio said, "Luis wanted all members, regardless of their real estate specialty, cultural background, or years in the business, to be involved and be respected at NVAR."
...
Rubio was part of that effort as he served as the first Chairman of Lama's Hispanic Forum for the local Realtors® group in 2007. NVAR was the first local association to form ethnic committees, according to the National Association of Realtors®. It served as the role model for other local associations that have since formed cultural groups. NVAR congratulates Rubio, who begins his tenure on January 1.
"Rubio will help take our association to the next level," said NVAR CEO Christine Todd.
