DMTC board chairman Robert S. Strauss made the announcement that David H. Batchelder of San Diego, Jon Kelly of Rancho Santa Fe and Marie Moretti of Sacramento would join Del Mar racetrack's leadership body, expanding its board to 12 members.
Moretti, who in 2008 finished an eight-year tour as a commissioner of the California Horse Racing Board, has served five California governors during her extensive public service career. Most recently she was Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger's Executive Director of the California Service Corps. Additionally, she held executive positions with major public affairs and public relations firms in the private sector.

Marie Moretti of Sacramento was appointed to her third term on the California Horse Racing Board by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Moretti was executive director of the California Service Corps from 2004-'05 and deputy appointments secretary in the Office of the Governor from 2003-'04.Moretti began serving on the CHRB in 1999 and was appointed to her second term on January 1, 2002, and she became vice chairman on December 1, 2005.

The Governor appointed Marie Moretti as executive director and David Muraki will continue to serve as deputy director of the Service Corps.

Marie Moretti
Marie Moretti was appointed by Governor Schwarzenegger to serve as the executive director of the Governor's Office of Service and Volunteerism in March of 2004.Prior to this appointment she served as deputy appointments secretary with a portfolio focused on health and human services.During the Davis Administration Moretti served as business liaison to the Governor, working with the California business community on a variety of public policy issues.
Previously she was executive vice president of the public affairs firm, Goddard Claussen/Porter Novelli and prior to that she was vice president and director of client services for the public relations firm, Stoorza Ziegaus Metzger & Hunt.Moretti was the founding director of the Edmund G. "Pat" Brown Institute of Public Affairs, a non-profit public policy organization; she also served in the administration of Governor Jerry Brown.
Moretti serves as a commissioner of the California Horse Racing Board; a member of the Advisory Board of the Pat Brown Institute of Public Affairs at California State University Los Angeles; and a member of the Board of Directors of the Bob Moretti Memorial Scholarship Foundation.She is a graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles Anderson School of Business Executive Program and Pitzer College in Claremont, California.

Marie Moretti of Sacramento and Sheryl Granzella of Richmond were named by Governor Gray Davis to fill two of four vacancies on the California Horse Racing Board, the body that oversees the state's $11.4 billion racing industry.
"I know I'm entering the board at a time of a lot of hot issues," said Moretti.
Moretti and Granzella may start serving on the board in January and both terms run through January 1, 2002.
Moretti has worked with four governors on a variety of boards, from the state's Landscape Architect Board to California's Italian-American Task Force. Moretti is the sister of former Assembly Speaker Bob Moretti.
