Mariam Adam, a native of Monterey, California has become an internationally distinguished clarinetist and chamber musician.

Mariam Adam, Clarinet. Mariam Adam, raised on the Monterey peninsula, started performing on the clarinet by the age of 10. She was principal clarinet of each all-state orchestra in California, the Eastman Music Summer Festival and toured with various jazz ensembles including a tour of Japan with the Monterey Jazz Festival All Star Band. In addition to winning numerous awards such as the Hans Wildau Young Musicians Award and the KBOQ Musicians Award, she was chosen to be one of the last students of legendary clarinetist, Rosario Mazzeo. She made her solo debut with the Sacramento Symphony and has since appeared with the Merced Symphony, Monterey Bay Symphony and the Santa Cruz Symphony. She has been an active chamber musician throughout her career performing at the Carmel Chamber Music Society Festival, the Mendocino Music Festival and has toured with the Pacific Woodwind Quintet and her own Klarinet Quartet. She has performed as a soloist throughout the west coast before making her move to New York where she has been much sought after as a freelance clarinetist. She is active in the contemporary music scene having given numerous world premieres at the Manhattan School of Music, the Aspen Music Festival and several noted performances with the Claremont Ensemble. She has performed live on MTV at the Hammerstein Ballroom and has collaborated with such artists as Paquito D'Rivera and Hector Martignon. She serves on the faculty of the Harlem School of the Arts and the CMEA Uptown Music School
